Summer Happenings

So I know that it is time for an update, but I have been horrible and haven't taken any pictures lately, so it may be pretty boring. However, I can direct you to where there are pictures that other more responsible moms have taken.

We went up to my mom's house for father's day weekend. (I know it doesn't make sense to see your mom on father's day, but that's just how it worked out.) It took us 11 hours to get there (it usually takes 8-9) thanks to an accident just south of Fresno that shut down the entire freeway. The good part was it was 11:30 at night so the boys slept through it all. But they were wide awake again when we finally got there at 3am.

Steve got in some golf on Friday and my sister-in-law Carrie came over from the bay area and we hung-out and went swimming. Well, the boys went swimming. That water was too dang cold for my Vegas self.

Saturday we went boating with the family and Carrie and John stayed to go with us. The boys loved it!!! They were scared at first to get on the boat, but soon were pros. They were especially aware of when the flag needed to be up and let us know the exact second we could put it down since no one was in the water. We were mean parents and made Kayden and Jackson ride the tube with their Dads. Kayden cried the entire time, and only stopped when Dad promised he could get back in the boat with mom. There were also some cows grazing along one part of the shore. The boys liked when we stopped at this part of the lake. The boys also kept asking why we kept falling down. The best answer came when Jackson wanted to know why his mom (who is pregnant) didn't go wakeboarding or on the tube. She told him he knew why and his immediate response was, "Cause you're a GIRL!" For 4th of July we went up to the cabin with the Dixons and some of the Truman family. We had a ton of people there and it was CRAZY, but also lots of fun. You couldn't even see the deck because it was covered with scooters, chairs, 2 tents, coolers, helmuts, and kids everywhere. I feel like I didn't see Kayden the whole weekend because he was outside playing with his cousins the entire time. The kids loved it!! We tried to make them sit down and watch a movie while it rained, but the second the rain stopped they were back outside and the movie was totally forgotten. A few of us went over to Brianhead on Saturday to watch the fireworks show. It was awesome to watch it in the canyon, and sounded like a jet was flying by everytime one went off. Kayden was so impatient, he could hardly stand for the fireworks to start and kept asking me when they would. Him and Drew watched the entire show wide-eyed. Then when it was over Kayden wanted to go somewhere else and watch more fireworks. Next year. Carrie has some pictures on her blog of the cabin.

So now we are back home and I still haven't caught up on laundry or cleaning. Oh well, it will still be there tomorrow.

Drew now wants to be outside all of the time and thows a fit if someone goes out and he doesn't get to go too. He is starting to cruise and should be walking before he is one.

Kayden's new favorite words are "sneaky" and "much better".
After chuch Kayden said, "Mom, I was sneaky in nursery." What!! Oh, no what did he do? He also said, "Mom! I forgot to give Sister Bandley a kiss!" He was so upset. He loves nursery now, and I frequently find him singing. The new song they learned this last week was "In the leafy treetops". Kayden calls it the "good morning song".

Examples of "much better":
After Drew has had a bottle, "Mom, Drew's much better now."
If someone doesn't feel good, "You much better now?"
After lining up his trucks, "That's much better."

Funny story. One night Weston was at our house and it was time for Kayden to go to bed. So Steve and I took Kayden into his room to say prayers. When Steve asked him who he wanted to say it he said, "Uncle Weston." So I went and got Weston and he came in and said the prayer for us. Sweet!

The other day at the bank a guy walked in and Kayden goes, "Look, Mom! There's Uncle Paul." It wasn't him, of course, but at least Kayden remembers his uncles. He also keeps asking where Jackson and Jordan and Max and Matthew are. I guess he doesn't see his family enough. We'll work on it.
